Would it be legal to build a house in 2 different counties in Ohio?
Q. Is it ok by law to build a house that is in 2 counties. Lets say you buy land but part is in Stark county and part is in Summit county. Could you build the house on the line to where part of the house is in Stark and one is in Summit?

A. I see no reason it would not be legal to build across counties, because the land is yours. If I'm not mistaken, parcel boundaries must conform with county boundaries. Therefore if you wanted to build a house where one part was situated in one county, and the rest situated in another county, that wouldn't be a problem so long as you own two or more joined (contiguous) parcels. The counties involved simply tax the parcels within their respective jurisdictions. So my theory is that you'd simply wind up with more than one property tax bill (since you're effectively living in two counties), each county taxing the parcels within their county. You wouldn't pay tax twice, but your total tax bill is going to be effected by the differences in… [cont.]
